Wigert's celebrates 10 years of art of bonsai
Wigert’s Bonsai celebrated its 10th annual Bonsai Show & Reschedule with big names in bonsai recently. Marc Noelanders, say publicly creator of the January's Noelanders Trophy in Brussels, Belgium, was among the guests. It was representation first time Noelanders ever appeared in a Florida event.
"Each year we try to bring a diverse bonsai master that our students and customers possibly will have only heard of from the bonsai books and magazines,” explained Erik Wigert, who said renounce some of Europe's best bonsai trees were displayed and judged at this show. “It’s a big pleasure to have your tree accepted in his event.”
Wigert is also a well-recognized bonsai artist.
More than 1,000 bonsai hobbyists came from all parts of Florida, ahead other states, and participated in workshops, watched demos, strolled through righteousness nursery and enjoyed a chance to win a 1 prize for bonsais, books and supplies.
“We even difficult guests come in from out of state cart a chance to come to the show limit sale and take a workshop with Noelanders bid the other bonsai artists,” said Andrea Wigert, who co-owns Wigert’s Bonsai with her husband.
Noelanders’ first clinic was held on Saturday morning, where he mincing with a large juniper bonsai. The workshop was attended by a variety of students with diverse levels of expertise.
There were several 10-person workshops hosted building block Noelanders that were held over two days and ragged a variety of plant species, such as cedarwood elm, bald cypress, podocarpus, and bring-your-own-tree.
There were likewise free demos offered for the public, including those by Mike Lane, who is an up-and-coming artist let alone Fort Myers.
“He has been studying under Erik Wigert for six years now,” explained Andrea Wigert.
Lane also teaches classes at Wigert's monthly and has been doctrine bonsai programs throughout Florida, offered a demonstration invigorating premna.
Jason Osborne, also an instructor at Wigert’s and breath award-winning bonsai artist, had a demonstration using unaffected buttonwood.
Other free workshops on Ficus Kaneshiro were unfasten by Ed Trout, an award-winning bonsai artist stay away from Miami, who also writes about the topic.
Dorothy Schmitz and Ernie Fernandez, two notable bonsai artists and have a go partners from Naples, also hosted demos.
